~ Maryland's Best, the state-wide marketing program connecting consumers to local producers, has announced its search for ice cream locations to join the 2026 Maryland's Best Ice Cream Trail. The program, which aims to support Maryland dairy farmers, is seeking locations with on-farm creameries or those using locally-sourced milk in their products.
According to Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks, the goal of the Ice Cream Trail is to promote and support local dairy farmers. "We encourage all Marylanders and visitors to check out the trail, visit the on-farm creameries, and support the ice cream shops that support Maryland farmers," he said.
This year, eligibility for participation has been expanded to include creameries that use milk produced on an existing Maryland farm or an ice cream mix from a processor that benefits local dairy farms. Non-farm creamery locations that use an ice cream mix from a processor benefiting Maryland dairy farms are also eligible.

Interested parties can apply by filling out a form and submitting invoices proving proof of purchase from a local processor by April 10 at 5:00 pm. The selected locations will be featured on the Ice Cream Trail and consumers are encouraged to download a free digital pass to track their adventures and be entered to win the title of "Maryland's Best Ice Cream Trailblazer Champion."
In addition to the Ice Cream Trail, Maryland's Best is also promoting state-wide dairy promotions this summer. Dairy farms in Maryland that produce value-added products such as cheese, yogurt, or milk are encouraged to apply for upcoming promotions by April 10 at 5:00 pm.
For any questions or inquiries about participating in these programs, potential participants can reach out to Kristin Hanna, Director of Special Projects for Maryland's Best at visitmarylandsbest.net.
The deadline for applications is fast approaching and Maryland's Best is looking forward to showcasing more local ice cream locations and supporting its dairy industry. Don't miss the chance to be a part of the 2026 Maryland's Best Ice Cream Trail and help promote and support Maryland's dairy farmers.
