The first story takes viewers to Libertas Estates in Mt. Airy where farm manager James Ewing has found an unconventional solution to combat the invasive spotted lanternfly population. By enlisting the help of Indian runner ducks, Ewing has been able to limit the presence of these pests on his vineyard.
Next up is OlaLekan Farm in Prince George's County where 26-year-old Tolu Igun is on a mission to make fresh and culturally rich foods accessible to her community. As a first-generation farmer and Nigerian immigrant, Igun also mentors other aspiring farmers at the Urban Farm Incubator at Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro.
The final story follows James Beard award-winning chef Spike Gjerde of Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore as he visits the 32nd Street Farmers Market in Waverly. Gjerde sources ingredients from local farms such as Liberty Delight Farms (Reisterstown), Black Rock Orchard (Lineboro), and One Straw Farm (White Hall) to create a delicious braised rabbit stew.
