The upcoming episode will not only feature Sauers' inspiring story but also three other segments highlighting different aspects of Maryland's agriculture industry.
One segment will focus on Monocacy hops, a unique type of hop that grows exceptionally well in Maryland's climate. Local brewmasters such as Tom Barse of Milkhouse Brewery and Christopher Leonard of Heavy Seas Brewery are using this special hop to create new and flavorful beers.
Another segment will feature Ernst Farm in Washington County, where father-son duo Steve and Josh Ernst have found success by creating a specialty grain feed for their livestock. This entrepreneurial pivot has allowed Josh to sustain his family as a full-time farmer.
The final segment will take viewers to Anne Arundel County Farmers Market with personal chef Lettie Lavallee, who sources locally produced ingredients for her delicious summer farro salad recipe.
