Maryland Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks to Lead Regional Ag Association as Incoming President

ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 24, 2025) ~ The Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture (SASDA) has announced that their 2026 Annual Conference will be held in Maryland. This decision was made during the 2025 Annual Conference in Nashville, TN, where Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks was elected as the new President of SASDA.

Secretary Atticks expressed his gratitude for being chosen for this role and the opportunity to represent Maryland on a national level. He also highlighted the importance of SASDA in promoting and expanding Maryland's agricultural and commercial seafood industries across the southern states.

In addition to serving as Board President, Secretary Atticks will also have the privilege of welcoming other Commissioners and Secretaries from various southern states to Maryland during the 2026 Annual Conference.

NASDA CEO Ted McKinney congratulated Secretary Atticks on his election, stating that his leadership and experience in Maryland's diverse agricultural sectors make him an excellent choice to lead the Southern region. McKinney also praised Secretary Atticks' reputation among his peers and his ability to bring together entrepreneurial insight and public service.

SASDA is a regional association of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA), with a mission to improve American agriculture through promoting sound public policy, agriculture-related businesses and programs, and highlighting the economic importance of agriculture. Along with serving as SASDA President, Secretary Atticks will also join NASDA's Board of Directors.
