~ On Friday, March 20th, 2026, Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks, along with Maryland Secretary of Natural Resources Josh Kurtz and Oyster Recovery Partnership Executive Director Ward Slacum, will kick off the highly anticipated Chesapeake Oyster Week at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore. The event will officially begin at 4:00 PM and is expected to draw a large crowd.

Chesapeake Oyster Week, which runs from March 20th to March 31st, will showcase over 60 restaurants throughout the region. These restaurants will be offering special deals and promotions during the 11-day event, giving consumers the opportunity to try a variety of Maryland oysters.

The kick-off event at Guinness Open Gate Brewery will feature brief remarks from Secretary Atticks and Secretary Kurtz, as well as a symbolic "popping of the oyster shell." Attendees will also have the chance to participate in an "oyster toast" led by the Secretaries on stage. To add to the excitement, Guinness will be providing complimentary oysters for everyone in attendance.
