Hosted by Autumn Joi, Neema Dance Collective Celebrates 10 Years of Impact in the DMV With Golden Hour Awards Gala and Spring Production Miracle
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. - Marylandian -- For the past decade, Neema Dance Collective has done more than train dancers across the DMV. It has created a cultural home for young girls and families throughout Prince George's County, using dance as a tool for confidence, discipline, mentorship, and community.
Now, the Black woman-owned dance institution is celebrating 10 years of impact with a weekend of events including the Golden Hour Awards Gala, hosted by media personality Autumn Joi, and the company's highly anticipated spring production, Miracle.
Founded by Grace Johnson-Wright, Neema Dance Collective has grown from a small vision into one of the most recognized performance-based dance organizations in the region. What began as a passion for dance and youth mentorship has evolved into a thriving community of more than 400 students, professional dancers, pre-professional performers, and families across the DMV.

Over the last 10 years, Neema has become known not only for its impeccable training and performances, but for creating a safe and empowering environment where young dancers are challenged artistically while being poured into personally. Alumni have gone on to train at prestigious institutions including The Ailey School and Debbie Allen Dance Academy, while others have landed opportunities in television, film, and commercial performance spaces.
"Dance has always been more than movement for us. It's confidence, discipline, healing, and community", states Johnson-Wright.
The celebration begins with the Golden Hour Awards Gala on May 29, an evening dedicated to honoring the dancers, families, leaders, and community supporters who have contributed to Neema's growth and legacy over the last decade.
The weekend continues with Miracle,(https://www.neemadancecollective.com/miracle) , Neema Dance Collective's annual spring production taking place May 30 through May 31 at Cramton Auditorium. The production will feature original choreography, storytelling, and performances from dancers ranging from youth students to company members trained across more than 25 dance styles.

At the center of the production is a message of perseverance, faith, healing, and transformation, themes that mirror Neema's own journey over the last decade.
The anniversary celebration also comes during a major season of expansion for the organization as Neema continues growing its footprint in Prince George's County through its new 16,000 square foot facility at Ritchie Station Marketplace, which will become one of the largest Black woman-owned dance facilities in the county.
