ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 19, 2025) ~ The Maryland Department of Agriculture is currently accepting nominations for the Governor's Agriculture Hall of Fame, an esteemed recognition for farm families who have made significant contributions to the state's agricultural industry. The deadline for nominations is October 3, and the inductees will be honored at the "Taste of Maryland Agriculture" event on February 5, 2026.
According to Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks, the success of Maryland's agriculture industry is largely due to the hard work and dedication of its farm families. The Governor's Agriculture Hall of Fame serves as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate their tireless efforts. Secretary Atticks encourages industry partners to nominate deserving farm families for this prestigious honor.
Since its establishment in 1991, the Hall of Fame has recognized 57 farm families from all 23 counties in Maryland. Some early inductees include Roland and Mildred Darcey from Prince George's County, Y.D. and Lonnie Hance from Calvert County, and C. Rodman and Jean Myers from Frederick County.
