ANNAPOLIS, MD (February 11, 2025) ~ The Maryland Department of Agriculture has announced that registration is now open for the 2025 Maryland Farmers Market Conference. This annual event, scheduled for March 11, aims to bring together local markets and farmers to discuss topics that will promote the success of farmers markets across the state.

The conference, which will be held at the Maryland Department of Agriculture in Annapolis, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Attendees can look forward to hearing from keynote speaker and Maryland Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks, who will also be available for a meet and greet with participants.

Direct marketing farmers, market managers, and agricultural professionals are invited to join and learn from speakers about various topics such as nutrition benefits, food safety, insurance options, and conflict resolution. The conference will also feature a panel discussion with farmers market managers from around the state.

For those interested in participating in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program, training and reauthorization will be available at the conference. Farmers are also encouraged to bring their scales for certification with the department's Weights and Measures office. Additionally, those interested in registering with USDA to accept SNAP at their market or farm stand should bring proper documentation. A farmer panel discussing electronic benefits usage and experience will also be facilitated.
