SILVER SPRING, Md. - Marylandian -- Prepare for an inspiring cinematic journey! "33 Black Frog: An American Story," a documentary chronicling the life of Chief Petty Officer Eddie L. Ferguson, one of the first African American Navy UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) "Frogmen" now known as the Navy SEAL and S, will premiere at the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, MD on July 28th, 2024.
This special event celebrates both the film and the remarkable life of Eddie Ferguson. The documentary delves into Ferguson's extraordinary story, from overcoming the challenges of the Jim Crow era to achieving groundbreaking feats as a U.S. Navy trailblazer. "33 Black Frog" is more than a biography; it's a testament to the human spirit. The film portrays Ferguson's incredible journey, filled with adversity and triumphs such as him not knowing how to swim and now having to learn to be accepted into this prestige group.
