Maryland Department of Agriculture Announces Electric Vehicle Charger Registration

ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 22, 2025) ~ Annapolis, MD - The Maryland Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures program has announced that registration for Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE chargers) will open on October 1, 2025. This comes as part of the state's efforts to promote the use of electric vehicles and ensure fair and accurate charging practices.

According to the department, all EVSE chargers used in a commercial transaction with a customer must be registered with the department by January 1, 2026. This includes both new and existing chargers. Failure to register by this date will result in chargers being unavailable for customer use.

Interested parties can find the registration form on the Maryland Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures webpage at https://mda.maryland.gov/weights_measures/Pages.... The form requires applicants to provide information such as the number of ports and location details.

Any questions or completed registration forms should be directed to weights.measures@maryland.gov. The Weight and Measures Program will respond within 5 business days to guide applicants through the next steps of the process.

This open registration period will run from October 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025. The department encourages all businesses using EVSE chargers to complete their registrations promptly to avoid any disruptions in service for their customers.
