Composer Nicolás Humberto Repetto's original score for the feature documentary, directed by Ray Whitehouse, was pre-released on May 3 and will be fully released on May 10.
LOS ANGELES - Marylandian -- The original score for the feature documentary "A Run for More," composed by Nicolás Humberto Repetto, was pre-released on Apple Music on May 3, 2023, and will be followed by a full digital release everywhere on May 10. The film is directed by Pulitzer Prize-winner Ray Whitehouse and follows the story of Frankie Gonzales-Wolfe, a transgender woman running for city council in San Antonio, Texas.
Repetto worked on the musical sound design, mixing, orchestration, and mastering of the score's album himself. With Frankie's journey in mind, Repetto orchestrated a score with two themes, described as "hope" and "struggle." The hope theme encompasses Frankie's family, friends, supporters, and optimism, while the struggle theme captures her hardships in running for office and the deep personal facets of Frankie's life that caused her trauma.
The score features design elements that create a unique sound involving string instruments, detuning, special effects, and more. The creative reach of the score was heightened with the usage of unique instrumentation, such as synth instruments and the Woodchester Piano from Fracture Sounds. Additionally, Repetto recorded solo violin fragments that were then enhanced with lovely textures and dreamlike effects. In moments when the score needed a darker timbre, Repetto used viola glissandi smothered with reverb that was then pitch-altered to create a disturbed sound.

"A Run for More" Tracklist:
Repetto is an Argentinian-American television, film, and concert composer who has composed music for various projects including documentaries, feature films, and advertising campaigns. His diverse musical voice is a blend of Argentinian and world influences, classical training, and electronics sensibility. Past projects include Hollywood Music in Media Award-nominated scores for "Ode in Blood'' and "The Plural of Blood," and music placements on TLC and HBO.
Repetto also recently composed and conducted original music performed by a 50-piece orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall for the unveiling of two new Omega watches, collectively worth $1 Million Dollars. The two pieces of music, one for each watch, featured a musical palette inspired by the elegance and acoustic characteristics of these new releases. The performance began with an ostinato that propelled the music to its climax, followed by the reveal of the watches, projected as images onto large, swinging veils.

Speaking of his work on the score of "A Run for More," Repetto says he was moved by the film's emotionally-charged scenes, noting specifically, "In the scene where Frankie is speaking with Lauryn Farris, I tried to capture the emotions, ever so subtly, in the score. Lauryn mentions that the world needs Frankie, and the score pulls at our heartstrings just a bit more."
"A Run for More" premiered at Frameline Film Festival in San Francisco and OutFest in Los Angeles, where the audience was moved by the film's story and the score. The soundtrack release will allow audiences to experience the music again and again.
