~ Dorchester County, MD - In an effort to reduce the adult mosquito population, several areas in Dorchester County will be treated by aircraft beginning the evening of August 13, 2026. The treatment will be conducted weather permitting and will cover approximately 13,342 acres.
The aircraft responsible for the aerial spraying is a twin-engine white plane with red and blue stripes, registered under N903MD. It will fly at a height of 300 to 500 feet above ground during evening hours.

According to the press release, the following communities in Dorchester County will receive aerial spraying services: Church Creek, Elliott Island, Madison, McKeil Point, Smithville, Susquehanna, Taylors Island and Woolford.
Residents of these areas are advised that the insecticide being used is called Trumpet and contains naled. It will be applied at a rate of less than 1.0 fluid ounce per acre. However, it is not necessary for people, pets or livestock to leave the area during the treatment.
