ANNAPOLIS, MD (February 12, 2025) ~ Annapolis, MD - Martin Proulx, the Value Added Agricultural Specialist at the Maryland Department of Agriculture, has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) Rising Star award. This prestigious award is given to an individual under the age of 40 who has made significant contributions to economic development in Maryland.

Proulx's work in driving growth and strengthening Maryland's agricultural economy through initiatives in farm manufacturing, tourism, and processing has earned him this recognition. He expressed his gratitude for MEDA and their continuous support for agriculture as an important aspect of economic development in the state.

Prior to joining the Maryland Department of Agriculture, Proulx served as the Agriculture Business Development Manager at Charles County Economic Development Department. In this role, he worked closely with farmers and the agriculture industry and played a key role in drafting and advancing legislation aimed at promoting local agriculture, tourism, and craft alcohol.

Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks expressed his delight upon hearing about Proulx's recognition as MEDA's Rising Star. Proulx will officially receive the award during the 2025 MEDA Awards Banquet on April 28th in Cambridge. The nonprofit organization of economic development professionals was established in 1961 with a mission to promote Maryland's economic well-being by improving its business climate and enhancing professionalism within the field of economic development.
