ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 10, 2024) ~ The Maryland Department of Agriculture is currently seeking nominations for the Governor's Agriculture Hall of Fame, an esteemed recognition that celebrates the hard work and dedication of farm families in the state. The deadline for nominations is October 4, 2024.
According to Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks, farm families are the backbone of the state's agriculture industry and deserve to be honored for their contributions. He encourages everyone to take this opportunity to shine a light on the tireless efforts of these families by nominating them for this prestigious recognition.
Established in 1991, the Governor's Agriculture Hall of Fame aims to pay tribute to exceptional farm families who have dedicated their lives to Maryland's agricultural heritage. The first inductees were Roland and Mildred Darcey from Prince George's County, Y.D. and Lonnie Hance from Calvert County, and C. Rodman and Jean Myers from Frederick County. Since then, a total of 56 farm families from all 23 counties in Maryland have been honored.
