BALTIMORE, April 11, 2025 ~ On February 12, 2025, Trudie Cloyd, the Director of Operations for WHO'S WHO IN BLACK (WWIB), sent an email to Dr. Zekeh Gbotokuma, congratulating him on being selected as one of the honorees for the 2025 Who's Who in Black Baltimore 2nd Edition. The email also informed him that his photo and bio would be included in the book and provided information about a custom frame for him to highlight this honor on his social media.

Dr. Gbotokuma, a Congolese American and Full Professor of Philosophy at Morgan State University (MSU), was thrilled to receive this recognition from his local community. He had been nominated through an announcement made in The AFRO American newspaper a few months ago.

The celebration of African American achievement is especially significant given the current sociopolitical climate in the United States. Dr. Gbotokuma believes that it is crucial to recognize and celebrate these achievements in response to the ongoing unjust war on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI), and democracy by the current administration.

Excited about his recognition from WWIB, Dr. Gbotokuma registered and reserved a table for 10 at the book unveiling event. However, due to the event's popularity, all tickets were sold out quickly, and special arrangements had to be made by the organizers and the hotel to accommodate late registrations.

The event was attended by 300 honorees, including Dr. Gbotokuma, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, and Maryland First Lady Mrs. Moore. It was a night of celebration and recognition of African American achievement in various industries such as business, politics, tech, sports, entertainment, and education.

Dr. Gbotokuma was joined by his colleagues from MSU at the networking reception held at Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. They were proud to celebrate his accomplishments and recognition within their community.

As a polyglot who refers to himself as a 'cosmocitizen,' Dr. Gbotokuma's achievements have transcended borders and have been recognized internationally. He continues to make significant contributions in academia and beyond through his commitment to diversity and global understanding.
