BOWIE, Md. - Marylandian -- Filmmaker and digital creator LaDàna Young is expanding creative career pathways for marginalized and justice-impacted youth through her nonprofit organization, My Fairy GodParents (MFGP). Following recent features highlighting her advocacy in community leadership, Young is expanding the nonprofit's efforts to gift young creators with the equipment, mentorship, and technical training needed to produce independent, professional multimedia content.
Operating at the intersection of media production and civic innovation, My Fairy GodParents empowers underserved youth to control their own narratives through cinematic storytelling and user-generated content (UGC). By establishing formal digital pipelines, the 501(c)(3) organization addresses critical resource gaps and offers sustainable, creative alternatives for youth rehabilitation and career development.
"Storytelling is an invaluable tool for community mentorship," said LaDàna Young, Founder of My Fairy GodParents. "By equipping our youth with modern media tools, we aren't just teaching filmmaking; we are enabling them to build professional creative portfolios and amplify voices that are often left out of traditional media landscapes."
