Severance of Association with "Born To Compete: A Man Without A War"

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Marylandian -- DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C., a woman‑owned boutique independent press, formally announces the termination of all association with Born To Compete: A Man Without A War and its producer, Theresa Lynn Zaino. Ms. Zaino has been a long‑standing service‑based product client and was never a contracted author. She did not execute the DonnaInk Title Representation Agreement and therefore held no representation, authority, or standing within DonnaInk's governance framework.

Production Background

The title was produced strictly as a service product. Ms. Quesinberry provided limited gratis assistance as a professional courtesy. Two ISBNs were purchased and remain available through the author. Gratis ISBNs for severable products will remain accessible. The final payment for services was received the previous year. DonnaInk's representation agreements vary by author and project; Ms. Zaino was never under a signed agreement and was not part of DonnaInk's author governance structure.

Third‑Party Printer Issues

A small hardbound print run was coordinated through SparkLeaf Publishing at $20.00 per copy. SparkLeaf failed to fulfill production for more than six months, despite repeated assurances. They issued inconsistent statements, did not deliver paid product, declined ownership disclosure, claimed 500 employees while operating from a residential location, and ceased communication after receiving full payment in March 2026.

Ms. Zaino initiated a chargeback against SparkLeaf but misdirected it toward DonnaInk, creating an unwarranted account deficit. DonnaInk bears no responsibility for SparkLeaf's pricing, timelines, or fulfillment failures.

Public Allegations

Ms. Zaino has publicly alleged she was "ripped off" for $5,000. These statements are inaccurate. The service product was delivered at a set rate, and the last payment was received the previous year. She further alleged a DonnaInk author was charged $10,000; the author paid nothing and received gratis services. Ms. Zaino has also attempted to harm Faces of Rap Mothers, where DonnaInk's owner serves as COO and Enterprise Publisher.

DonnaInk's Remediation Position

DonnaInk advised Ms. Zaino that the press may remit hardback copies as a courtesy through internal overhead. Any remediation will require DonnaInk to pursue reimbursement with damages from SparkLeaf for failed production and wrongful business practices.

Regulatory Actions

DonnaInk Publications is filing formal complaints with State Attorneys, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Hallandale Police Department, and local business associations regarding SparkLeaf's conduct.

Governance Commitment

DonnaInk Publications remains committed to ethical operations, transparent governance, and responsible stewardship. The press has no further association with Born To Compete: A Man Without A War or Ms. Zaino.
