Free celebration brings together waterwise gardening, live music, art, local conservation experts, and family-friendly sustainability activities
BOULDER, Colo. - Marylandian -- As Coloradans face a dry summer and rising costs, nonprofit Resource Central invites the community to a free day of music, waterwise landscaping inspiration, and practical tips for conservation from local experts on Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 6400 Arapahoe Road in Boulder.
Part of Resource Central's free Rock & Reuse series, Saturday's event comes as Colorado is in a drought, and residents want practical ways to save water, make affordable home improvements, or reduce household waste. Attendees can connect with local conservation experts, explore practical ways to save water, donate excess building materials, and enjoy live music, artists, food trucks, and sustainable summer fun for all ages.
When the nonprofit's gates open at 9:00 a.m., visitors can explore pollinator-friendly individual waterwise plants from Garden In A Box, browse reclaimed garden tools, and discover reused landscaping materials to help create sustainable, low-water outdoor spaces.

From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Rock & Reuse will include a live DJ, local reuse artist Kieuly Dang, family-friendly activities, food trucks from Nacho Mama's and Pints Peak Ice Cream, and opportunities to connect with Resource Central's team and other local conservation experts, Eco-Cycle, Keep It Clean Partnership, and Perks Deconstruction, for tips to save water and reduce waste.
Register for a free Intro to Permaculture workshop, a nature-inspired approach to designing resilient systems for homes and gardens, at 2:00 p.m. in English or 3:45 p.m. in Spanish. Workshops will be taught by Boulder Permaculture and held onsite at Resource Central.
"This Saturday, we're inviting new faces, longtime supporters, families, and even four-legged friends to stop by and see what conservation looks like," said Neal Lurie, President & CEO. "Whether visitors come for the waterwise plants, chat with a local conservation expert, drop off donations after decluttering a garage, or simply admire the reuse art with an ice cream cone, we hope they're feeling empowered to live more sustainably."
