NAPLES, Fla. - Marylandian -- Barringer Publishing is proud to announce the publication of Gary Schmelz's newest
young adult thriller, The Devil's Cauldron, book two of the Japapa Trilogy. The Devil's
Cauldron resumes with the three teens searching for treasure of a Spanish galleon that
allegedly sank off Fortune Island. At the same time, the demon, Baka continues to seek
revenge against them and Sharkman.
The demon sends a horrific hurricane to the Bahamas during which he throws
Sharkman back to Pompeii just prior to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and hurls
the teens back to a time where Japapa has assumed the body of the pirate Black
Caesar and is charged with torturing them on behalf of Baka.
The intended revenge includes having the boys sold as slaves and Simone forced into
Blackbeard's harem. While Sharkman and the teens face a number of challenges,
Mama Atabei enlists the help of a wizard called 'The Seer' who is able to transport

himself and her back in time to find and rescue the teens and Sharkman. Will they be

Gary Schmelz was the Director of the Big Cypress Nature Center and Director of
Education for The Conservancy of Southwest Florida, where he designed curriculum for
students in preschool through eighth grade. Additionally, he assisted in the development
of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Nature Center on Key Biscayne, Florida, and served
on the board and as president of the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum on Sanibel,
Florida. Gary has traveled extensively in the Bahamas and Caribbean.Book one, in the trilogy, "Japapa" is the story of three teenagers in the Bahamas who
face death from an evil voodoo priest. This young adult novel is a tale of survival
involving three teenagers, one Bahamian, one from New York City, and one from
