FREDERICK, Md. - Marylandian -- Prepare to be transported on a breathtaking journey of friendship, adventure, and illusion as The Vanishing Elephant comes to the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Thursday, March 20 at 7:00 PM. This spellbinding production from internationally acclaimed Belfast-based theatre company Cahoots combines physical theatre, puppetry, original music, digital technology, and theatrical magic to create an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children/students and may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the box office at 301-600-2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick Street. Discounts are available military and seniors.
At the heart of The Vanishing Elephant is the touching story of Opu, a young boy in Bengal who dreams of becoming an elephant trainer. When he befriends Janu, an Asian elephant, their bond sets the stage for an extraordinary adventure spanning decades and continents. Separated by time and distance, Opu and Janu face challenges, stormy seas, and the unknown—until years later, Opu hears that world-famous magician Harry Houdini will vanish an elephant on stage in New York City. Could it really be Janu, so far from home? Determined to find out, Opu embarks on one last journey into the unknown.
