ABERDEEN, Md., March 19, 2025 ~ In a historic move, Budtenders and shift leaders at Ascend in Aberdeen, Md. have ratified their first collective bargaining agreement, becoming the first cannabis workers in the state to be covered by a Teamsters contract.

The agreement was announced by Sean Cedenio, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 570, who praised the workers for their dedication and fearlessness during the negotiation process. "These workers stuck together and were fearless in advocating for themselves during this process," said Cedenio. "Their dedication is inspiring, and what we've accomplished here can serve as a model for other dispensaries throughout the state."

This is not the first time that Teamsters have secured strong contracts for Ascend workers. The union has a proven track record of success in Illinois and Michigan. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, workers at Ascend will see increases in wages, job security, paid time off, and safety improvements.
