~ ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Maryland Department of Agriculture has announced that registration is now open for the 2026 Maryland Farmers Market Conference. This annual event, scheduled for March 10, aims to bring together local farmers' markets and farmers to discuss topics that will support and promote the success of farmers' markets across the state.

The conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Maryland Department of Agriculture in Annapolis. Attendees can look forward to hearing from keynote speaker and Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks, who will also be available for a meet and greet with participants.

Secretary Atticks expressed his excitement for the conference, stating, "Our farmers' markets are the heart of Maryland's communities, providing a direct link between farmers and the families they feed. I'm looking forward to serving as this year's keynote speaker and sitting down with our market managers and producers."

The conference will cover a range of important topics such as food access programs, conflict resolution, value-added food regulations, and immigration and enforcement trends. A marketing panel will also be featured to discuss different strategies for promoting small farms or organizations. Breakout sessions will allow participants to delve deeper into marketing, conflict resolution, and nutrient management plans.

The event will also feature Maryland Market Money - now a program of MDA - which will provide information on-site. Farmers are also encouraged to bring their scales for certification by the MDA Weights and Measures office.
