Award-winning author, singer-songwriter, poet, and cultural anthropologist Lauren Coyle Rosen drops a second profoundly beautiful, soul-stirring music album.

WASHINGTON - Marylandian -- Covers and Veils in Blue, the second indie and chamber pop album from Philadelphia and DC-based writer and artist, Lauren Coyle Rosen, is set to release August 29, 2025. This album comes on the heels of her acclaimed debut album, Purify Flame, released in May. Her powerful reinterpretation of David Bowie's iconic anthem, "Heroes," was released as a single on May 20, in advance of the new album.

An inspired and prolific composer, writer, and visual artist, Lauren has emerged as a creative powerhouse for contemporary popular culture. She is already set to release her third album, Goddess Visions, in 2026. She is also the author of twelve celebrated books to date, four nonfiction and eight volumes of her poetry and visual art. Lauren's most recent prose book was coauthored with the leading orchestral composer and jazz legend Hannibal Lokumbe. This book, Hannibal Lokumbe, has been hailed by leading writers and artists as "an instant classic … a must read for all ages," "holy," a "beautifully written, inspiring, compelling, and transformative account," and "just plain outright powerful." Columbia University Press nominated it for the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award, among other awards.

The title track of Lauren's Purify Flame album was celebrated as "a dreamscape you'll never want to leave" in Next Wave Magazine. In an interview with The Pulse of Entertainment, Lauren revealed some of her deeply intuitive creative process: "It was as if the music was working through me. I just opened up … I was in an altered state like I was co-creating. I'm a poet. I wrote the words without understanding what I was talking about. I'd say words and then would hear this melody."

For Covers and Veils in Blue, Lauren again opened herself to the essence and the spirit of the music.

"For this album, I was clearly moved by the spirit to cover and reinterpret a collection of songs from across time that, for me on my life's journey, have had powerful healing or activating qualities. Each of the songs on this album has that magic," Lauren said. "They were all created by brilliant, visionary musicians – for example, David Bowie, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, and Mazzy Star – and they also feel like they emanate from this timeless place in spirit."

Although the songs here are all reinterpretations of legendary songs, this second album is an extension of Lauren's first album in its spirit and sound. It has the same hypnotic, enchanting melodies, set to minimalist chamber sounds created mostly on piano and cello, along with some trumpet and synthesizer. The instruments provide a fertile sonic atmosphere for her resonant, dreamlike vocals.

"For my first album, I offered songs that chronicled my life's journey as told through my spirit, my voice, in my words and melodies. On this second album, I surrendered more fully to the spiritual essence of each song I was moved to reinterpret. Before creating each song, I would set the intention that the spiritual truth of each piece – and the sonic medicine – flow through me as clearly and completely as possible. These are all songs that have moved me to my core at various times in my life. I hope that these versions offer some of those same activating and healing powers for others," Lauren shared.

The album will be available on all major music streaming platforms upon release. To learn more, visit Lauren's official website at www.laurencoylerosen.com. She can also be found on Instagram, Spotify, and Wikipedia.
