Finding new adventures traveling with artists - friends to discover the connections near and far. France, the region of Normandy, walking the streets fellow artists have walked. Inspiration for new work, a new show!
FREDERICK, Md. - Marylandian -- Spring time in Paris was just the start of this creative adventure. Traveling along the Seine River, exploring history, walking in the footsteps of master painters, viewing ancient buildings, cathedrals and sidewalk cafes. Inspiration for all the senses.
The idea for the art show started one morning as two friends, sketched on the sun deck of the Amalyra Ship viewing Chateau Gaillard. Making postcards for no one yet, just creating and making memories. We should do a postcards from Paris show - let's call it Postcards From France! We would be traveling along the Seine River for most of the trip stepping into history. Walking though the trees to Giverny, enjoying the spring time gardens Monet tended. Seeing the Rouen Cathedral he painted over and over in different lighting of the day. Feeling the sadness of the small room Van Gogh spent his last days but inspired by the fields, flowers that graced his works.

Later a stop in Honfleur, the heart of Normandy. Exploring Pays D'Auge, Beaumont and Pont-L 'Eveque to be treated to Normandy cider and calvados brandy. This stop confirmed that we would have the art show at Willow Oaks craft cider and wine /Art Space. An America Cidery, a perfect connection to Normandy. Craft cider, and art, a great place to explore and find out more about how cider is created. The owners of Willow Oaks, Eric and Lori Rice, will be happy to tell you about their unique ciders and how they may compare to French ciders. The apples and other fruits they use can be found on their organic farm, the oldest in Maryland.
It is the right time of year, fall, to come enjoy a drive in the country, try some new ciders, maybe a desert wine, meet the artists who are inspired to create prints, paintings, drawings, photographs, and mixed media pieces. Many small works will be available and just in time for holiday shopping.
Come on by October 26th and 27th to meet the artists: Linda Harrison-Parsons, Marilu Tousignaut, Denise Tousignaut and Tracy Tousignaut Reed. Open 11:00 - 5:00 each day, the cidery is open Saturdays and Sundays or by appointment. Located at: 6219 Harley Road, Middletown, MD
