BALTIMORE, Oct. 1, 2024 ~ As the new school year begins, parents are reminded of the importance of keeping their children hydrated throughout the day. A recent survey commissioned by True Lemon Kids and conducted by Talker Research has shed light on the challenges parents face in ensuring their children stay hydrated during the busy school day.
The survey, which included 2,000 parents of children aged 5-12, revealed that while many children carry water bottles to school, they are still falling short of their daily hydration needs. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, children aged 5-8 should drink at least 5 glasses of water per day, while those over 8 years old should aim for eight 8-ounce glasses daily. However, the survey found that on average, children only consume 4.8 glasses of water per day.
This gap highlights the need for effective hydration strategies as 31% of parents reported feeling stressed about keeping their children hydrated. To combat this issue, many parents use regular reminders (59%), flavor enhancers (39%), and social media trends like #watertok (49%) to encourage their children to drink more water. True Lemon Kids products also offer a solution by providing enjoyable and flavorful ways for kids to stay hydrated.
