Maryland: Media Advisory: Governor Wes Moore to Honor Century Farm Families Event Celebrates Families Farming the Same Land for Over 100 Years

ANNAPOLIS, MD (April 1, 2024) ~ Annapolis, MD - On April 1, 2024, Governor Wes Moore will be honoring seven Maryland farm families for their dedication to agriculture and long-term stewardship of the land. The Century Farm awards will be presented to these families at a special ceremony held at the Governor's Reception Room in the Maryland State House.

Established in 1994, the Century Farm Program recognizes families who have been farming the same land for over 100 years. This year's inductees bring the total number of honored farms to 216 across the state. The event will celebrate farms in seven counties including Anne Arundel, Caroline, Dorchester, Garrett, Harford, St. Mary's and Worcester.

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. and last until 3 p.m., with brief remarks from Governor Moore followed by photo opportunities with each Century Farm family. Media interested in attending are asked to RSVP to Lauren at Lauren.Moses1@maryland.gov.
