ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 1, 2024) ~ Annapolis, MD - The Maryland Horse Industry Board, a program under the Maryland Department of Agriculture, has officially opened the application process for the 2025 Maryland Horse Industry Board grants. From August 1st to October 4th, interested parties can submit their proposals for educational, promotional, and research projects that support horses or the equestrian community, or develop new opportunities for the Maryland horse industry.
Funding for these grants is made possible by the Maryland Feed Fund, which collects $6 on every ton of horse feed sold in the state. Since its establishment in 2002, the Fund has provided nearly $700,000 in grant money to over 400 projects throughout Maryland.
Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks praised the efforts of both the Maryland Horse Industry Board and The Feed Fund in supporting growth and opportunity within the state's equestrian community. He also commended their unique model as a self-funded commodity marketing entity consisting of private citizens who are stakeholders in the industry.

Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the 2025 grant guidelines and consider proposals aligned with industry action items proposed at various Maryland Horse Forums and events. Interested parties can access guidelines and submit their applications through https://mda.maryland.gov/horseboard/Pages/grant.... Projects will be evaluated based on their written presentation quality, potential impact and value to the industry, feasibility, financial need, and potential for matching funds.
