ANNAPOLIS, MD (March 12, 2025) ~ Annapolis, MD - The Maryland Department of Agriculture has announced the launch of the Maryland Food and Agricultural Resiliency Mechanism Grant Program (MFARM) on March 12, 2025. This competitive grant program aims to address food insecurity while also supporting local farmers and seafood providers.
Under MFARM, Maryland food banks, charitable emergency food organizations, and eligible nonprofits can purchase agriculture and seafood products from businesses listed in the Certified Local Farm and Fish Directory. The deadline to submit proposals is May 2, 2025.
According to Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks, this grant program is a win for both communities and local producers. "It is always a win when we can utilize food in a better way for our communities," said Atticks. "Not only can we address food insecure areas, we can also support our local farm and fish producers making this entire grant a real asset to all involved."
