FREDERICK, Md. - Marylandian -- An Evening with Judy Collins, Tom Paxton and The Don Juans brings the longtime friends together for a rare concert event at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, Maryland on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 8:00 PM.
This event is presented by Key West Productions and F.A.M.E. Tickets start at $55 and may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the box office at 301-600-2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick Street.
Judy Collins has inspired audiences with sublime vocals, boldly vulnerable songwriting, personal life triumphs and a firm commitment to social activism. In the 1960's she evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 50-album body of work. Judy Collins' award winning career includes such hits as Send in the Clowns, Chelsea Morning, Amazing Grace, Some Day Soon, Both Sides Now and so many more. Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner and folk icon, Tom Paxton, teams up with the Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter duo The Don Juans. Collectively their songs have been covered by performers such as John Mellencamp, Miranda Lambert, Neil Diamond, Ray Charles, Pete Seeger, John Denver, Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, and Bob Dylan. Within days of writing and making music together, Paxton and The Don Juans (Don Henry and Jon Vezner) knew they were on to something special. Paxton provides vocals and stories as well as plays the guitar; Henry provides vocals and plays the guitar, ukulele and banjo; and Vezner provides vocals and plays the piano, guitar and ukulele.
