BALTIMORE - Marylandian -- The Fashion Umbrella Foundation, organizer of Baltimore Fashion Week and its largest fundraiser is thrilled to announce a special collaboration with the Sewfabulous Sewing School for the Emerging Designer Platform runway segment of the 2024 Baltimore Fashion Week. This prestigious event will take place on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Baltimore Center Stage.
This year's Emerging Designer Platform will spotlight the innovative creations of middle and high school students from the Sewfabulous Sewing School, located in Pikesville, Maryland. Owned and operated by Margaret Garland, a seasoned seamstress and designer, the school is dedicated to nurturing young talent under her expert guidance.
The Emerging Designer segment is uniquely designed to showcase students up to age 18, demonstrating their remarkable design skills. Students showcasing in this year's 17th production season gained their education at Sewfabulous Sewing. While this platform initially highlighted collegiate talent in the past for 2024 and beyond the Emerging Designer Platform will remain open to young designers representing middle and high school levels, not only to Maryland students, but to students across the United States, fostering a diverse and dynamic fashion environment.
