Presented by the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland, in partnership with the College of Southern Maryland and the Rural Maryland Council
WALDORF, Md. - Marylandian -- Waldorf, MD — The Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland (TCCSMD), in collaboration with the College of Southern Maryland and the Rural Maryland Council, is proud to announce the 14th Annual Southern Maryland Hiring Event will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the College of Southern Maryland's La Plata Campus.
As federal worker layoffs continue to impact families throughout the region, this year's hiring event is more important than ever—offering timely support and pathways to employment, career services, and essential resources for those affected.
With up to 65 hiring businesses and 25 community resource partners expected, jobseekers can look forward to connecting with a wide array of industries including healthcare, public safety, skilled trades, education, DoD contractors and more. The event has historically attracted between 800 to 1,200 jobseekers, and with over 200 already registered in the first week, organizers are preparing to surpass all previous attendance records in 2025.

"This event is more than just a job fair—it's a high-impact opportunity to build stronger local economies, fill workforce gaps, and highlight the incredible potential of Southern Maryland's talent pipeline," said Ruthy Davis, Director of Regional Workforce & Business Development at TCCSMD. "Thanks to our expanded partnerships and a renewed focus on innovation, we're giving both businesses and jobseekers the tools and connections they need to thrive."
To further elevate the experience, this year's event features a dedicated mobile app to streamline engagement and communication. Jobseekers can upload their resumes, which will be sorted by industry and shared with employers a week before the event. The app also includes job search tips, real-time support, and direct resource connections—especially for federal employees navigating sudden job transitions.
Professional development is also top of mind, with free professional headshots available to all attendees, courtesy of Tara Kenji Photography.
"Each year, this event grows in reach and impact. Our team is passionate about bridging the gap between employers and jobseekers, and we're thrilled to see the momentum building so early," said Yvette Turner, Lead Business Engagement Specialist at TCCSMD. "We've designed the experience to be innovative, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of both businesses and our community. It's not just about jobs—it's about creating futures."
