ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 10, 2024) ~ Annapolis, MD- The Maryland Department of Agriculture has announced that a virtual listening session will be held on Tuesday, September 17 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. This session aims to provide stakeholders with an opportunity to voice their concerns regarding Emergency Actions for HB 991 and SB 1074 (Agriculture - Food Processing Residuals Utilization Permit - Establishment). These actions were recently submitted to the Administrative, Executive and Legislative Review (AELR) Committee in order to allow temporary regulations while the Department works towards submitting a Proposed Action for adoption.

The virtual hearing will serve as a platform for Department staff to collectively gather feedback from the public. Attendees are encouraged to include farmers, producers, representatives of agriculture support agencies, and other interested groups.
To participate in the session and receive the virtual link, interested individuals are required to RSVP to the department's Director of Government Relations Rachel Jones at rachel.jones2@maryland.gov. This listening session is an important step in ensuring that all voices are heard and considered as the Department moves forward with these emergency actions.
