GAITHERSBURG, Md., Jan. 14, 2025 ~ Adventist HealthCare has announced the appointment of Daffodil Baez as the new president of Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center in Prince George's County, Maryland. Baez, who currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan, will take on her new role at Fort Washington Medical Center, an acute-care hospital that offers a range of inpatient, surgical and specialty services as well as emergency care.
Baez joined Adventist HealthCare in 2019 as the CEO for Howard University's academic medical group, which includes 25 specialties and over 130 doctors. During her time at Adventist HealthCare, she has made significant contributions to the organization by improving clinical quality metrics and enhancing operational and financial performance. Baez also established strategic partnerships throughout the capital region to drive business development and raise awareness of the practice within the healthcare industry.
John Sackett, President and CEO of Adventist HealthCare, expressed his confidence in Baez's ability to lead Fort Washington Medical Center. "I have full confidence that Daffodil Baez has the expertise needed to lead our team and ensure excellent, convenient care to promote the best health outcomes," he said. Sackett also acknowledged Baez's predecessor Eunmee Shim for fostering strong relationships between physicians, local government, and community stakeholders.

Baez brings a wealth of experience to her new role with a background in finance and practice management. She holds master's degrees in public health and business and has previously served as Assistant Director of Clinical Operations for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. In this role, she implemented process improvement strategies and oversaw a joint venture with Texas Health Resources. Baez has also held leadership positions at various healthcare organizations across Texas and Arizona.
"I look forward to working with leaders and partners throughout Prince George's County so that every community member has access to compassionate, high-quality care close to home," said Baez. She also expressed her honor in further enhancing the reputation of Fort Washington Medical Center as a trusted source of healing and hope.
