BALTIMORE, June 7, 2024 ~ Renowned musician and technology innovator Thomas Dolby is expanding his creative repertoire with the release of his highly anticipated novel, "Prevailing Wind." The gripping historical fiction is set to hit bookshelves on June 25, 2024, marking Dolby's significant foray into the literary world.
The book follows the story of two brothers, Davey and Jacob Haskell, who dream of escaping their impoverished lobsterman life in Deer Isle, Maine on the eve of World War I. Their sailing skills catch the attention of the powerful New York Yacht Club, offering them a chance at glory in the prestigious America's Cup race.
However, their bond is tested when they both fall for Edith, a captivating Irish maid. Author Thomas Dolby is best known for his innovative contributions to music and technology. With five Grammy nominations under his belt, his hit single "She Blinded Me with Science" became an iconic anthem of the 1980s. Beyond music, he has significantly impacted the tech industry by creating the synthesizer used in billions of Nokia mobile phones.
Dolby's memoir "The Speed of Sound" was well-received for its insightful storytelling about his journey through both industries.
