Rescue One and Mission 10-42 provide AEDs, bleeding control kits, first aid supplies, and portable response equipment to support community safety

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - Marylandian -- The Morningside Police Department has received new lifesaving emergency response equipment through donations from Rescue One Training for Life and Mission 10-42, giving officers additional resources for cardiac emergencies, severe bleeding, and other medical incidents.

Rescue One donated four Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Mission 10-42 also donated four Intermediate Bleeding Control Kits, four First Aid Kits, and four AED backpacks so officers can carry and access the equipment quickly when needed.

The four AEDs are also enrolled in Rescue One's AED Program Management program to help ensure the devices are maintained and ready for use.

"The ability to quickly respond to someone in cardiac arrest has become one of the most important components of that person being able to survive that event. Having AEDs available to our well-trained officers and other Town employees gives them a vital resource when responding to a cardiac emergency in our community," said Daniel Franklin, Chief of the Morningside Police Department. "We are extremely grateful to Rescue One and Mission 10-42 for their generosity, their partnership, and their generous investment in the safety and well-being of the community we serve, as well as giving us a greater ability to assist our fellow officers should they have a cardiac emergency. We are ready to be able to help in what can be considered someone's darkest hour."

AEDs analyze heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest and, when appropriate, deliver a shock to help restore a normal rhythm. Bleeding control and first aid supplies give officers additional tools to respond to serious injuries while emergency medical assistance is on the way.

"At Rescue One, our goal has always been to make sure lifesaving equipment is not only available, but ready to use when every second matters," said Jeremy Gruber, President and Co-Founder of Rescue One Training for Life. "We're proud to support the Morningside Police Department by providing these AEDs and including them in our Program Management program so the department can have confidence that this critical equipment is ready at the time it is needed."

The partnership between the Morningside Police Department, Rescue One, and Mission 10-42 demonstrates how public safety agencies, businesses, and nonprofit organizations can work together to strengthen community emergency preparedness.
