MPT Series Maryland Farm & Harvest Visits Locations in Allegany, St. Mary’s, and Worcester Counties During December 10 Episode

ANNAPOLIS, MD (December 9, 2024) ~ Annapolis, MD - Maryland Public Television's original series, Maryland Farm & Harvest, is back for its 12th season and will be featuring farms and locations in Allegany, Worcester, and St. Mary's counties in its upcoming episode premiering on Tuesday, December 10. Viewers can get a sneak peek of the episode on the series' webpage at mpt.org/farm.

The popular weekly series airs on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. on MPT-HD and can also be streamed online at mpt.org/livestream. For those who miss the live broadcast, episodes are available to watch on demand using the free PBS app or MPT's online video player.

Maryland Farm & Harvest takes viewers on a journey across the state, showcasing the farms, people, and technology that make up Maryland's number one commercial industry - agriculture. The series aims to educate and entertain viewers with engaging stories about the hard work and dedication required to sustain and grow agriculture in the Free State.

The December 10 episode will kick off with introductions filmed at the Carroll County Farm Museum in Westminster. It will feature three stories from different counties:

- Blessing of the Combines (Worcester County) - For over 25 years, Snow Hill has been celebrating local farmers with a parade and blessing of combines before they head out for fall harvest. Viewers will meet organizer Becky Payne and see how her idea to honor farmers has grown into a town-wide event with over 8,000 attendees.

- Bishop Walsh Aquaponics Lab (Allegany County) - Bishop Walsh School in Cumberland has been nurturing young minds since 1966. Now, thanks to their new aquaponics lab, students are also learning how to grow fresh vegetables while giving back to their community.

- The Local Buy: Tobacco Barn Distillery (St. Mary's County) - Host Al Spoler takes a trip to Hollywood to revisit Tobacco Barn Distillery, which was previously featured in the series' sixth season. The veteran-owned distillery has seen significant growth since then and was named "Top Farmer-Distiller" in 2023 by the American Craft Spirits Association.

Since its debut in 2013, Maryland Farm & Harvest has attracted over 16 million viewers on the statewide public TV network. The series has visited nearly 500 farms, fisheries, and other agriculture-related locations in all of Maryland's counties, as well as Baltimore City and Washington D.C.
